"Bake with Anna Olson" Ch.48 Freeview

Postby jeral » Sun Apr 14, 2013 2:44 pm

I've been watching these on and off and have decided that I really need to look out for them and record them :)

Anna (that I've seen) has shown various pastries and cookies, step by step, with the camera primarily on the work surface. About three recipes per programme and detailed instructions for each.

Good use of viewing time methinks. Anna's on again tomorrow, Monday, at 6 to 7pm Ch.48.

She's also on 2-3pm every day which I'm recording.

She's an excellent, professional baker. No posturing or time wasting, she's very slick & down-to-earth & just gets on with the job -with impressive results. The way cookery programmes should be IMO.

Yes - on all counts :) Indeed, I haven't once felt the urge to shout at the TV as I have with some especially recent "entertainment" cooking programmes

The two programmes at 6-7pm are repeats of the ones shown at 2-3pm earlier I discovered.

A number of her recipes are on the Food Network site together with some videos of the programmes here: http://www.foodnetwork.co.uk/celebrity- ... olson.html

Someone at work has been raving about her, but I am afraid the first show I watched a few days ago was the cupcake one, and did not enjoy it, found her irritating and the cakes kitch and fussy - but then I have an aversion to the current cupcake obsession anyway, so was the worst possible one to watch!

I'm not a fan of cupcakes either so that particular programme didn't interest me much - I'd rather have a slice of date and walnut cake or such like. I'm surprised you find Anna irritating - what is it about her?

Your knitted cupcake is lovely - it beats knitted Shreddies hands down ;)

Hi,

I really like BAKE with Anna Olson too... I actually tested one of her recipes the other day - Tarte au Chocolate. It worked perfectly! I even went as far as propping my iPad up in the kitchen and watched the show, via Food Network.co.uk, and cooked along.

Here is the outcome - http://www.andstirwell.com/2013/05/tarte-au-chocolat.html

Hope she does some more, think I have watched them all now.

Thanks
James

A thing about baking is knowing your oven. Clearly Anna, being a professional, has what someone here described as a "funky kitchen" including a well calibrated oven, whilst most of us have to "bung it in and see what comes out" - at least on the first attempt, so well done you jglazebrook 8-)

I too hope there will be some new programmes.
