Help - new avatar

Postby Dena » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:11 pm

I have deleted my old avatar, have found the picture of the one I want to use in my pics, have had it downsized (by a friend) but, but, but the profile thingy won't accept it.

Help please. Why.

Could I please be shown where the info on how to downsize it is so that it stays downsized? My friend says he has downsized it but it doesn't stay that way. Now I'm back to being a question mark?

Hi Dena,

have you checked that your friend has made the pic 100x100 pixels and no more than 24.41kb in size? It might just need reducing a bit more to enable it to fit.

I forgot to mention that Sakkarin has given instructions on how to upload the pic here:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=90#p512

I know that you have deleted your old one so you probably know what to do already, but it sounds to me that the size might be the issue.

Try this: answer this post, and under the box where you write the text, there is a tab that says "Upload Attachment", which lets you post a picture. Upload it there, then at least we will have the picture this end, and hopefully someone can adjust it. I'mm going to try myself, see how it works, to confirm...

Aha - when you have uploaded your pic, it gives you two options: "Place Inline" or "Delete File". If you click "Place inline", it puts some text in the post your are writing which will end up as your pic.

Then click either preview to check it, or submit to post it.

Dena post the full sized pic and GP using her magic sets it as your avatar.

I'm the same Dena - I manage to do it once, think 'gosh, that wasn't so difficult after all!', then the next time I need to do it (usually weeks or months later) I just can't work out what I did before!!

I look forward to seeing your fish bones - eventually!

Many thanks Sakkarin, - I'm feeling quite proud of myself, being a techno numpty.

Hope that jumping toast doesn't give everyone a headache. :)

I don't know why, but it reminds me of that three-legged chicken that was impossible to catch...

I have to say tho' too many 'moving parts' on forums ( no names no packdrill' ) does give me a headache.

Hi Dena,

Don't think of the blank avatar as being just a question mark, think of it more as being a silhouette of the chef Aggi Sverrisson ;)

To be, or not to be, that is the question. The answer is not to be

Dena, on your skeletons, I took a photo of son playing his guitar on the settee. I scanned it in and changed it to black and white instead of colour image and it came out as a rather impressive silhouette. I wonder what your skellingtons would look like in monochrome, although t'would be useless if not enough contrast detail.

PS: On Aggi, he was on Sat Kit this morning (great show) and I'll bet my shirt that you can make a better omelette than he did
