FAO Joanbunting - beetroot.
Hi Joan, here's a link from the Eden Project about beetroot. http://gardenofeaden.blogspot.co.uk/201 ... -seed.html I hadn't realised it helps lower blood pressure.
As I said, if you can't get the seeds, I could send you some.

How kind. We can get beetroot seeds here but they don't seem to like our rather heavy soil and the huge variations of temperature and water.
I have spoken to a couple of people who sometimes sell beetroot in the framers' market and they all seem to be on the sandy river soil and grow under poly tunnels.
Never mind the spuds are doing really well and the tomatoes are flowering despite the chilly winds.

Re: FAO Joanbunting - beetroot.
We start our beetroot off in modules (3 seeds to a module and take out all but one seedling after germination) and then transfer to the clay of our allotment. They seem to grow much quicker and better than sowing direct into the soil. May be worth a try ......
