Growing anavocado stone

Postby legendarysupercook » Sat Jun 28, 2014 2:50 pm

I suspended an avocado stone in a glass of water a while ago and now it has a long root growing from the bottom. What do I do now?? Leave it alone or plant it in a pot of compost? Help!!

You can try potting it up, but I'd be inclined to throw it out & start again with one planted in a pot of compost, only the bottom half buried, point uppermost, they grow much better like that

If you pot it only half bury it

I found pinching out the tip, once you've got a stem with a growing point to pinch, helped keep them from getting too leggy

I suspect Hass have nicer foliage than the other kinds of avo
