I want one

Postby Gillthepainter » Tue May 29, 2012 9:45 am

saw this on our walk at the weekend, which I adore.
I'm not even a cat person

I wonder where you can get one?
Or I could make one at pottery classes .....

Gill, you are so creative - I am sure you could make one at a pottery class!

Aww, such cruelty! Poor ickle Tweetypies. Shame on you ;)

Aside from pot, have you thought of making a papier mache cat using bits of wire coathanger or dowel for reinforcement? For the globes like head and tummy, can blow up balloons to desired size and paper them. I imagine it'd be weatherproof after several coats of varnish and paint.

Edit: I forgot that it's a bit cruel also to varnish cats - what was I thinking?

Joan, I thought Amazon sold them - but they're discontinued.

Hi Tatihou. Thanks for the comment on the blog post. It's glorious out there in the country at the moment.
I saw a lot of orange tip butterflies too, but they're too quick to catch on camera.

HH. I think the pottery class is the way to go too.
I made a salad bowl in my first one that gets used all the time.

Hi Jeral.
Not so sure about that papier mache being fit for outside conditions.

Tell me about it. I've been following them for several years hoping to get a photo when they land but they're very shy creatures and if I'm following, they don't land. The only time I got a good look at one was when I found one dead at the side of the road. So not ideal circumstances, I felt...

Aww, the poor thing.
They're so orange when they are in flight, it's a surprise the colour is only on their edging.

Hi Odette.
And thank you. The weather's turning now, but it was good while it lasted.

I presume you're warming up over there nicely :wave
