"Refrigerator Tetris" is a good term, i.e. clever by its aptness.

(Tetris is a computer game where you have to figure out how pieces will fit together.)

I haven't figured out MEAL yet...

The coconut milk broth recipe I mentioned yesterday was very good. I decided it didn't really need the mussels, so I added baby al dente sweetcorn and cashews instead for half of it, so a vegan version.

Friday: Home made from scratch tomato sauce ( marinara, fresh tomatoes with fresh basil and garlic ) and linguini .. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

We have bank holidays here, so tomorrow morning we shall drive up the Costa Brava ..

Have a good bank holiday Alexandria and put your feet up :)

Ours is Monday 7th, so low stodge, high energy grub for me until then. The weather is finally good enough to tackle some deferred spring cleaning, i.e. enough light to be able to see the muck :lol: so I'm disallowing myself food that leads to couch slouching.

We have a holiday on Tuesday - May 1st so that means most folk here will be "doing the bridge" which means they will take a long weekend until Wednesday!

We are out with friends on Sunday.
As it is Friday I am making fish pie tonight.
Saturday I think it might be either rabbit with herbs or a veggie asparagus dish
MondayI have oredered a veal roast which may just end up on the BBQ except the forecast is fairly dire.
A ratatouille will feature at some point

This weekend is my first when I will be in on a Saturday and this means I can get in the kitchen. :limbobanana :wino

I will be making Tapas thanks to the Croquetas thread by Alexandria. On the menu is/will be;
- Crab Croquetas
- Pollo al Chilindron
- Calamari
- Chorizo in red wine, honey and garlic
- Gambas al pil pil
- Cojonudo Murciano Sobrasada (my favourite stolen from a tapas bar in Chorlton, Manchester)
- Paella

Do you make a chicken or a veal or a lamb Aragonés Chilindrón ?

My family´s recipe for Chilindrón is:

5 Cloves of garlic minced
90 Ml. Evoo
100 grams of cured Spanish Ham
250 grams of carrots peeled and finely chopped
90 Ml. white wine from Penèdés
250 grams fresh shelled sweet green peas in a pod
1 kilo of chicken breasts on bone
2 tomatoes ( 250 grams ) peeled and finely diced
1 red bell pepper ( large ) chopped into strips lengthwise
2 sprigs fresh parsley
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

This dish is named after an ancient card game, called: Chilindrón ..

Chicken as it is cheaper :lol:

- 1 pack of chicken thighs (x 6)
- 1 red pepper
- 1 green pepper
- 1 large onion
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 2 ripe tomato's
- A good glug of dry white wine
- 1 sprig of thyme
- EVOO, lemon and fresh parsley to garnish

I like to blend half of my veg mix into a smooth puree and add it back into the chopped veg and then coat the chicken in it.

I like the idea of adding ham I will do that this weekend :) Cheers, Alexandria.

Yes, the Iberian Ham provides fabulous flavor to both the chicken and the sauce ..

And I like your idea of the onion .. I had forgotten to mention, my mom and grandmothers use onion ..

Saturday Lunch: Chicken al Chilindrón ( Chicken Red Bell Pepper Stew ) at my parents ..

Saturday Dinner: Mediterranean Sea Front Bistro Café ..


Sunday: Mother´s Day Brunch Out with family ..

Monday: Breakfast with our 2 daughter in laws and twins sons before heading back to Barcelona .. We plan to stop for lunch enroute on the southern Costa Brava ..

Crab Crab Crab................! :yum

The Lushly has been dressing 3 large crabs this afternoon - pliers, screwdriver & don't-mess-with-me-knife to hand - a laborious job but so worth it.....!

Just crab & lemon slices - so no mucking about with it mixing with mayo or other atrocities. A perky little salad to go alongside - rocket, cress & spinach & a crisp white wine is all that's needed......soooo :thumbsup

Tomorrow will be spicy lamb meatballs which I prepped earlier with a Good & Gutsy Tom Sauce with linguine - no wimpy tom sauce here...!

Made jalebis for the first time. They were far from perfect, but at least it gave me confidence to try them again in the future. I've had the special jalebi squirting bottle for years now, it was about time I got round to it!

I used a cheaty non-fermented recipe, a combination of several on YouTube. This video uses exactly the same squirter as I've got.

I thought jalebi were shy creatures that lived in transparent plastic boxes in sweet centres and convenience stores just off the Mile End Road; their main habitat was formerly Grafton Way, near the BT tower (Fitzrovia)

I'll get me coat :(

Hey, well done on the new recipe, Sakkarin.
I think Mamta brought some to a meeting we had in London, if my memory serves me. Can you remember Sue, she brought sweet treats.

No idea what to have today.
I've had my dry porridge and yoghurt today, but I won't want to have that for breakfast much longer.
I'll be tucking into frootie smoothies soon - fav is banana and spinach.

But tonight. No idea. Crab crab crab cakes perhaps, Lush?
I'll have a prowl through my cookbooks on my kindle later.
We had tikka for the last 2 days, so no to chicken, and no to Indian.

Tuesday: We are off today, a bank holiday throughout the peninsula ( Labor Day ) ..

So we shall be off for Tapas and wine at a tiny tavern bar in the old part of the Port ..

Just relaxing today .. Laundry going ( all black ) and unpacking from trip and a stop at office to do some work ..

Crab a distant memory now Grilly - it was good tho' - very sweet this time of year.

I'm cooked-out at the minute - just no inspiration - bangers & mash last night, easy peasy - have some bulghar sitting in the fridge waiting to be turned into tabbouleh if the weather turns sunny - I'm tossing up whether to have that tonight with tikka'd chicken breasts or........................

Very very sweet! 101% sugar! The trays full of jalebis is one of my teenage memories of the Asian sweetshops/curry houses in Southall, but it is astonishing to me that I've never got round to making them, when I've home-cooked everything else that they had on offer. It's a very long list.

Last night I saw pollock fillets on sale in Tesco for the equivalent of £4.40 a kilo, so I thought I'd try them out, and used my favourite achari tikka mix on diced chunks and baked them, served in salady pittas. Was OK, but some tweaking to do as it ended up slightly mushy, and also had a slight "dishwater" taste, I wonder if that was the pollock.

I wonder if a more "fishcakey" fried fish ball would work in a pitta kebab too.
