Coffee filter machine and make do ingredients

Postby Gillthepainter » Tue Apr 15, 2014 3:28 pm

I must say, this is one of the best gadgets invented for the kitchen.
Although I've given up coffee, Tony requested filter coffee and some ginger biscuits for his afternoon snack attack.

Starbucks coffee in the machine, percolated nicely.
But I decided not to walk to the Bath Road shops, and to make do with what I have in.

And the biscuits are a surprising success, despite a bit of invention.
I made them using soya Pure spread, with fresh ginger as I have it in for my juicer drinks. (I haven't bought butter since Christmas, but it hasn't made a jot of difference to my waistline, which is a blow - usually if I give up just the one thing, it slowly but surely has an impact). Not this time.

I also used honey, and the remnants of icing sugar - about a tablespoon. As I don't buy sugar.

The biscuits haven't spread as they would normally, so aren't hard & snap-able.
But are rather lovely nevertheless.

Not so sweet either, which is how we have them in our house.

Any make do or just pleasing ventures/inventions in your kitchen recently?
Something to make you think "I do like it when that happens".
