And the fresher the better, Renee.
I have the grinder, I pretty much use for peppercorns. And toasted seeds.
I'm walking into town today and can buy a cluster of beans to try out.

I believe that putting rice through gets rid of any residues, which might be an idea!!

I didn't like the Sainsbury espresso either
I've got Veluto Nero (my usual) and Cuban from the Algerian, but haven't started using them yet

Yes, I'd better make sure I get rid of any grainage in the seams.
Verluto nero - another one to try. Thanks Sue.
Had a slip today, the coffee went everywhere as I attempted to plunge too hard.
My glass coffee cup is tall and slim, and I've noticed it is a bit wobbly when I use the aeropress. I just need to pay attention when I use this cup.

Only from the Algerian Coffee Stores - it's their own blend
I like the idea of Black Velvet coffee

I've been going to the Alg for at least 42 years, off and on
It hasn't changed much
A bit cleaner maybe in the corners, and more gourmet chocolate, that's about it
Staffed largely by young French & Italian interns

Re: In praise of the Aeropress
I suppose I could treat myself to an internet shop, Sue.
Will check out the final price.
Although I'm in London in October and could make a special trip.

So am I , since I recommended it to him
Love mine - so easy to use
Re: In praise of the Aeropress
The only niggle I have with the Delonghi grinder is the static which the coffee hopper(?) generates, which makes it hard to pour from it without a certain amount of scattered coffee ground mess. I'm sure there must be a workaround for this somewhere.
Had to take a piccy of this, astonishing static build up, that must be a tablespoonful of coffee suspended in midair...

Re: In praise of the Aeropress
My Krupps would be similar, but I bang the whole machine down on the workbench a few times, which removes most of it. Sometimes I use a knife to remove the rest, also it came with a little brush.

Steampunk coffee grinder! Looks a bit coarse for expresso, mind you...

I'm glad he stopped the car
I can see the use for that - and it seems to use ESE pods, so you can choose your coffee
Sakkarin - I don't get such bad static, but I always spoon out the coffee not tip, and the scraping probably dissipates it
I did invest in a single dark glass plate from a cheap shop to stand my paraphernalia on and catch the grounds

my word, Sakkarin, us Strictly's love that steampunk coffee-grinder!
Re: In praise of the Aeropress
Apparently you can buy REFURBISHED Aeropress filters! I'm sure it's a typo, but can you imagine the mess, retrieving the filters from their coffee puck, and drying out the 350 filters that you'd need for a fresh pack - and surely they'd end up with at least a bit of the old stale coffee taste?

As seen on Countryfile recently, exotic mushrooms can be grown using old coffee grounds:

cripes. I never knew you could do so much more with grindings than compost.
Hair product build up is a new one especially.
I should save the hockey pucks.
