I understand that in the frozen South American aisle they've got some Chileans...

Tee hee.
Maybe everyone should do that mannequin "freeze" in frozen aisles.

Jeral, I like the coffee beans from Tesco ... the one that Sakkarin gets and also the Columbian. I do make the effort occasionally to go there. Morrisons is at the other side of Chorley, so I rarely go there, so I have to put up with Asda, Sainsbury's, Aldi and Booths. I don't starve!

The cherries currently on sale at Tesco for £4.00 for a 1 kilo box are gorgeous.

Consequently my cherry stoner has been out for its yearly exercise, there's something satisfying about using it.

What a shame - my local Tesco hasn't got them - their offering is £3.00 for 400g.

Maybe it's a one-off special purchase, I've never seen anything quite like it. They're packed in a sort of slotted together wooden box. There were more in it than in the pic :yum

I got some similar dark Spanish cherries from Morrison's, 450 g for about £2.60 in an ordinary punnet. Same colour as my toe nails :D

I've seen other fruit in those mini crates, there's a shop called Fresh and Fruity on Stamford Hill sells the huge quantities of fruit and veg the local Jewish and Turkish families require, seen them there, it's mainly retail but looks like a wholesale warehouse. Seen them in Spain too I think?

I bought these tomatoes from Asda, which were grown locally and a very good buy. I do wonder how the grower makes any profit.

Found the cherries in my Tesco yesterday - they are very good value. Haven't found any bad ones and they taste lovely. I'm going away for a few days so I hope they've still got them when I get back.

Is there a good way of keeping fresh cherries if one buys "a lot" pls?

Gently stewing them, with or without sugar, is all I can think of...

I'm afraid my only solution is to eat them faster :-(

Just had a bowl of my favourite clafoutis.

Fantastic find!
Fray Bentos tinned pies on special offer, large size now £1 (half price) at Tesco:
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/product ... y%20bentos

NB: Anyone scooping a dozen up has to admit to it on here

I have a vague memory that people used to save and reuse the empty tins to make their own deep pies. Probably still sensible as thin tin always makes the best pies, never a soggy bottom.

PS: Crate of cherries are still good to eat surprisingly, despite the 30C+ weather.

Waitrose cherries are on special (not yellow ticket) £4.50 a kg. There were other fruits also reduced.

That's a good saving, but Asda have the same Magnums on offer for £2, except for the mini magnums.

Tesco £4 a kg cherries back in yesterday - but nowhere near as good as the first lot. I found quite a number of bad ones so won't be buying any more.

Did well on a quick dash into Morr yesterday
Desi yogurt £1
A stainless steel 30 cm mixing bowl £2.25, really pleased, I'm moving to s/s for big bowls, they don't break and they weigh very little

Isn't it frustrating when you have to Google something and then it gives you an answer which you have to Google again?

"Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. The outer shell is solid mozzarella, while the inside contains stracciatella and cream..."
