Re: Aquafaba
I have never heard of Aquafaba - so a new one on me! Very curious now tho'!
I quite often roast chickpeas ( to go with a glass of something red!) I like them spicy, so roll them in smoked paprika or chilli powder or garlic powder or a mixture of all three - very easy to do & worth doing a couple of tins at once - they keep very well. Just keep on eye on them & don't let them burn or you end up with crispy chickpeas with an hollow centre

Re: Aquafaba
what a lovely idea, Lush, for an a-pair-o-teef.
Re: Aquafaba
Talk of panko crumbs on the other thread made me wonder if tinned chickpea water could be whisked to replace the egg dip when crumbing. Anyone know or tried it please? Or whether there's another egg substitute that works? Ta.

Yes you can use aqua faba for 'egg and breadcrumbs', example here:

Ooh thanks smitch and nice to see you again Hope all is well with you and yours.
I like (as well as that it can be used for crumbing) that the chickpea water is simmered to reduce rather than arm-breaking whisking. Also spotted another page with a vegan shortcrust pastry. Great vegan site, ta, that I'll study more later

Many thanks for taking the trouble to post those recipes, mark111757. Each of the three elements could be used for other purposes too so it's a versatile triplet

Re: Aquafaba
Chick pea flour is a very common ingredient in Spain.
1) Instead of all purpose when dredging and dusting a wide variety of fish types or boneless breast of chicken to sauté, try chick pea flour. It is much lighter and non porous so that the Evoo does not seep into the product .. Golden crisp heaven ..
2) Renée: Mentioned falafel .. A meze of Chickpea Hummus is another marvel ..
3) Binky,
In reference, to this product, no I have not heard of it, however, chickpeas and their juices have a lot of uses .. I have never baked with this ingredient ..
Fascinating however ! And thank you for posting ..
Good evenng ..

Re: Aquafaba
For whatever it is worth, I could not find a. Carton of chickpeas on the Cole's or woolworths websites. I kept bumping into 400g tins that seem to be easily found.
Onward........bake!!!!!

Re: Aquafaba
Mark, forgive me if you already know this, but chickpeas are often labelled 'garbanzo beans' in some countries.
Maybe that's why you're having difficulty finding them if you're searching for 'chickpeas'?
