hard coffee sweets
I'm on the hunt for little individually wrapped coffee (latte cappuccino, that sort of thing) coffee sweets.
In the UK, coffee seems to = chocolate coated.
The ones on holiday I liked were little boiled coffee flavoured sweets. Just to eat one now and again as a sweetie treat:
I've bought some very good Kopiko coffee sweets from Ebay
But would rather just go to a shop and buy some.
Any ideas where to get them?
Other suggestions?

Morning Gill
Do you have any of the olde worlde sweet shoppe branches near you? They sell sweets in jars by weight as well as pre-packaged ones and might just sell what you are looking for. There seems to be a bit of a revival in those old fashioned sweetie jars in recent years thank goodness!

I haven't heard of them but since Amazon tends to sell most things I looked and there are a lot, often named described as travel sweets: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_no ... fee+sweets
Maybe you could research some of the websites to see if they sell via retailers?
I found thse at £1.69 for 60 lozenges, but £6.50 P&P
http://www.mediterraneandirect.co.uk/sh ... turin-30g/
Edit: It ought to be possible to make boiled sweets from strong coffee, or how about making some strong coffee using a strong gelatine mix to suck like jelly cubes?

Re: hard coffee sweets
Afternoon Strictly.
We have an old fashioned sweet shop in Broadway. I wonder if they have the sort of thing I'm looking for.
Next time I go there I can have a look.
Hi Jeral.
Oooo those italian ones look nice.
I don't think I can entertain making them as husband will pass out with the smell of cooking sweets, being a sugar dodger.
Shame really, as it would be a pleasant project otherwise.
I was so taken by these little sweets, I'd rather like to just have one a day. (Honest).

Oh my giddy aunt Gill! You have got me onto hard coffee sweets now . I had a bit of a brainwave on the way to my dentist today. I have to go past a Polish supermarket on the way there, so I popped in afterwards and found some Kopico coffee flavoured sweets which look different to the ones you bought. If you got the cappuccino version, I bought the espresso ones and am currently eating one now. Goodness me, they are delicious, and have a wonderful bitter flavour. I can really see why you like them.
Do you have any Polish or Eastern European shops near you, because they might also be an option. If not, let me know and I'll send you a PM regarding this matter. Generally speaking, given the recent coffee revolution in the UK, I'm surprised that these are not that widely available.

adagirl, Strictly!
Nice aren't they.
And no danger to the teeth either. They're fairly brittle.
I bought one of each, but am on the cappuccino ones first.
We have different types of market and delis around the lower high street. I'll have a wander tomorrow .......

OK Gill, that's great and I hope you find a store that sells them! Good luck on your wander later today. I am up at silly o'clock because I had that sweet far too late in the day and couldn't sleep last night. they are what I call a grown-up sweet because of that lovely bitterness.

Re: hard coffee sweets
Sorry about that buzz before bedtime.
Perhaps they do decaf
This particular sweet brand is certainly good enough for my coffee sweet quest.
Although I shall still look for others.
In the US I saw Werthers does coffee flavoured, but cannot source them over here.

Re: hard coffee sweets
Damn!
3 polish shops and some Asian - but no coffee sweeties.
I did buy a sachet of "real" coffee - those pour in a mug and add water for a foamy coffee. Same brand.
But it was horribly sweet.
I couldn't drink it.

Hi Gill I've sent you another PM, I think it's worked this time as it is in my outbox as sent
EDIT: the message is still lurking in my outbox. Just in case you don;t get another PM from me, I bought an extra pack of those Kopico sweets for you in case you had trouble getting them or anything similar near you. Please could you PM me your address if you would like them. Thanks, Clare

Clara.
That's really kind of you. Thank you. I shall take them off your hands, yes please.
We are going to a food fayre in Gloucester this weekend.
I'll be on the prowl there too. They have a lot of sweetie stalls usually.
Actually, it was there that I tried a frozen ice cream using - can't think of the word this morning. Is it nitrogen? What's that frozen freezy stuff you need to put gloves on?
Any way - quait naice, but nothing to write home out.

It's frozen carbon dioxide, more commonly known as dry ice.
As well as heavy gloves, the area needs to be well ventilated for when it evaporates.
I assume that "nothing to write home about" is the mixture rather than method of freezing, unless it was so cold as not to be able to taste it at all? I wonder if dry ice is how blast chillers work.

Re: hard coffee sweets
That's the thing, Jeral.
Although I know it as liquid nitrogen.
I felt that the "flash" process hadn't given the ice cream any development.
And found myself looking at other delicious stands, wishing I'd just had one of theirs.
If only Tony liked frozen yoghurt or sorbet. I'd buy an ice cream maker.

Hi Gill
I have posted your sweets off today 2nd class as requested. We did have to slit the outer bag open to fit it in the box though. Hopefully you should get them in the next few days.
