I'm pretty certain they featured this dish in both the Gizzy Erskine and the John Torode Korean series, as a dish that was originally created to serve to American servicemen. I seem to remember it having more ingredients though, this version has spam too.

Re: Anyone here like hot dogs
I intend to visit a Christmas market or two in London, and will probably end up eating a hot dog made with a German style bratwurst
Use to love frankfurters but went off them over time
When I was very young there was a song around called Frankfurter Sandwiches. Took me a long time to work out that these are in fact hot dogs! This was the version we knew, sung by Rosemary Squires

Re: Anyone here like hot dogs
As a kid I used to eat frankfurters quite regularly, often as hot dogs. Saveloys too, for that matter. Haven't had either for yonks, which is probably a combination of getting older and changing socio-economic circumstances.
Often these days, I see something advertised as a 'hot dog' but it contains a sausage rather than a frankfurter (I realise a frankfurter is a type of sausage, but you know what I mean)

I remember that song Sue.
but I don't like the over sweet, soft rolls so mostly eat them as part of a choucroute garni. Our butcher/ traiteur makes wonderful choucroute - his father came from Alsace.
