Thank you for sharing, that is sad. He and Genaro contaldo made quite a pair.

I enjoyed the bbc series two greedy italians.

I was very saddened to hear the news. I have had meals at two of his restaurants. The first one was at Manchester Piccadilly railway station and the second at London St. Pancras station.

@Renée,

Terribly sad .. I had read that he was eighty and he fell at home .. That was all that the Guardian had stated on November 8th. I was very surprised ..

Today I had made his Carbonara ..

Love his books and his Dvds and especially the series which I have, "Two Greedy Italians" ..

Amazing work ..

Thanks for your feedback .. :wino

January Cookbook club will be a Carluccio memorial supper club, we will each make on of his recipes and take it to share and reminisce. Some of the people there did know him

I will miss him too. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and even cooked with him once. i've even got a photo! He had a wicked sense of humour and was a real ladies man.

His last interview on the BBC was broadcast this week on the World Service programme called The Food Chain , which is always worth a listen. you can easily find it on the WS website

Thane Prince, cookery writer, says (and Tweeted, so not confidential) that he once sent her a whole kilogram of violet creams as part of an unsuccessful seduction plan  She says she
will bring violet creams, a sickly fondant filled chocolate for those who haven't seen them

@ Alexandria. I didn't know that he'd had a fall. How very sad and that's all it takes, sometimes.

I will make one of his recipes in his memory.

Sue, a kilo of violet creams would turn me off someone! I have a vague recollection of them.

Renee
I think you and Thane are on the same page. I am not sure he was 100% serious, if it worked, - hallelujah! If not, a friendly gesture
You can get violet and rose creams at M&S at this time of year, I prefer the rose.

@ Renée.

According to the Guardian Newspaper online, the article stated he fell at home ..

I have not seen any other references to the Late Chef´s reasons for passing on ..

All my best for a lovely weekend ..

A fall seems to be the accepted cause
He has seemed not to move well for a while, I've seen a few of the repeats of Two Greedy Italians shown in memoriam and you can see he doesn't move well
Was moved by the one in which he mused slightly sadly about having no children of his own

Thank you for the information. Falls sometimes happen when you're least expecting them.

Have a lovely weekend yourself! :chrissytree1

I missed seeing those programmes Sue. I expect that we'll be able to watch them again.

@ Renée,

I felt terrible when I read about Chef Carlucci´s death on November 8th. I am a grand grand Fan of his books and Dvds and adventures with Chef Gennaro especially and Two Greedy Italians. A true Masterpiece ..

There are 2 Spanish Chefs who have a similar book and had produced a T. V. segment which were quite amazing too .. At momento their names are on tip of my tongue but I have to look them up. They were the 2 leading actors on a long running series prime time called Cuentame, ( Tell Me What is Happening ) and it begins in the 1960s and goes up until present day ..

Their names are: Actor and Author Juan Echanove and Basque Actor and Author Imanol Arias .. I do not know if their book has been translated into English or not ..

Have a lovely weekend ..
