Alexandria, you sound very organised! Your office tree sounds lovely. We have a very nice large decorated tree, with three different colours of lights at the gym and a Grotto, which looks nicely decorated.
I just have cards to write to my neighbours now, which I shall deliver and call in to see a friend who hasn't been well. I leave here on Tuesday to go by train to Berkshire, to stay with Colin for two weeks, so have all my packing to do tomorrow. It is much milder here now, but rain of course!!
Thank you for your good wishes and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and the same to everyone else!

Thank you Alexandria.
And have a glorious time, Renee.
I put the tree up at the weekend and am rather pleased my candle shaped clip on lights are still working. I've not used them for a few years as they can flop a bit.
And our oldest ornament "teddy" is still looking pristine.
He's 24 years old, bought a Sion House near Kew, when we first got together and bought all of our tree decorations from there.
Last day at the studio, delivering 2 commissions.
Then I'm free till whenever in January.

So many threads, so much to say but I can't keep up!
The other morning OH started to put on her socks and felt her back go. Now I'm chief sock-putter-onner and various other jobs involving her bending. We live in interesting times …
So, all I want to do is to wish all of you, and those that love you, all the best for Christmas and look forward to catching up in the New Year. Make sure you enjoy yourselves.

Oops.
I do hope she gets better soon. I sometimes have to do that when Tony's back slides.
It's awkward for both parties.

I've now finished work until next Thursday too. I'll be getting the last few bits of food after my dentist's appointment tomorrow morning. I'll be going into town by bus - definitely not driving in (shudders at the thought.)

I went through Oxford Circus yesterday
(not shopping, just visiting the ophthalmologist)
Need to pick up the bird on Saturday and get some veg
Will pop into the supermarket tomorrow, after sunset when the local Jewish population have gone home for seder and hopefully the other families are busy too, they are open until midnight, and I don't need much

Well, we arrived OK though got second train with seconds to spare.
The house is Grade II listed with some magnificent rooms though our en-suite has no towel rails! A few things other things the owners haven’t thought about.
BUT there were eight of us last night, after a trying day we slummed it with a takeaway. Lots and lots and lots of happy chat. We're happy
More arrive today, Saturday and the final one on Sunday.
Once again I wish you and your loved ones all the best. Bye for now

Have a great time Dennis!
Gill, I love the Teddy! The oldest deccies on my tree are 74 years old. They were on my first Christmas tree. There used to be 6 but I still have 5 which is not bad going as they are hand-blown glass.

xford Circus this time of year ............... Good God, Sue.
Hats Off to you.
Enjoy your gatherings, Dennis and Alexandria.
Good going on the decs, Joan. Especially delicate ones. I had 6 long fine glass pieces, that became fewer year on year.
Strictly, we thought about bussing into Cirencester yesterday. But risked taking the car until 10mins off the town and got parked easily. I was surprised.
Decided I simply cannot be bothered to make a ham.
So bought a small turkey crown, that can be sliced for B Day. And local Wye smoked salmon. I'm a big Shetland smoked salmon fan, so twill be interesting to see the difference.
Posh twizzle stick stylee cocktail sticks, instead of the usual plain ones that I tend to drop over the floor.

I think I'd get strung up if I didn't cook a ham at Christmas! Not a problem because I love it myself, and the slow cooker makes the first boiling/simmering part a breeze.

I'm cooking my ham tomorrow. I'll make some pease pudding too to have on Boxing Day.
Christmas Eve will be a small duck a l'orange.
We are out on Monday so our traditional scrambled truffled eggs will be kept for Christmas night instead of the more usual brunch.

Tony did indeed have a wobbly moment when I said I didn't get the ham stuff, Stricters.
Joan, I told him you were having duck a l'orange.
It's lovely to be able to follow peeps foodie choices.

Re: Holidays are only 20 Days Away - All shopping Done yet ?
the trifle base is now made. We've gone down the forest fruits avenue this year; raspberry jelly, blackberry & elderflower Pimms for the booze, HM trifle sponge sandwiched with a posh blackberry and raspberry with sloe gin jam and tinned raspberries for the fruit. Yes they have collapsed into a pulp but never mind!
I am just about to cook the fruit for our Christmas Cake. I'm doing that Aussie Fruit Cake again with some added sherry.

I unfortunately forgot to soak the ham and then left it in the slow cooker too long and it fell to bits. Therefore no glazed ham for us this year, I'll just shred it instead! Oh well....

Ooooops.
Make a quiche? Salty carbonara stylee pasta.
And this looks good - with cranberry: http://myfoodbook.com.au/recipes/show/s ... ry-pockets
Today I'm wrapping gifts, cooking boxing day turkey crown for sliced meat (not a meal).
Making "simply nibbles" for tonight.
Before going to see Star Wars later. Too easy, what have I missed.
