Champagne and my friend Helen
I have just had the news that my very good friend Helen Savage has won the Institute of Masters of Wine Champagne Trinity scholarship.
It apparently means that she will have to hob-nob with small producers like Roederer, Bolly et al.
Here's her blog

If anyone has any questions on any topic vinous then Helen's your girl.
I have just e-mailed her telling her she should be here.

A bit late to the party. Many many congratulations to your friend. If your friend has a true taste faculty which is rare she should go far.
No questions, just a "Well Done" to Helen Savage

Quite an achievement.
A nice idea to invite her here, Joan. Maybe we should go forth and invite people who've participated on the Beeb msgboard in the past - like Dan Lepard.

Hi Jeral,
Believe me she does! Just about evreything M and I know about wine (other than how to glug it) she taught us.
She started the first certificate course at Newcastle University and some of her students have gone far.
We "graduated" from her first courses at the centre for continuing education at Newcastle to be tutors ourselves.
She has waited so long to do her MOW - couldn't afford it up to now. It is unbelievably expensive
I promise i will encourage her to join us here.
