Great Websites for Pressies
Because we live in the sticks and have to send gifts all over the place we have done most of our shopping on line recently.
We are always in the market for reliable and sensible sites so perhaps some of you would like to share their favourites.
Lakeland is a must but I have also discovered another couple -
handpickedcollection.com
notonthehighstreet.com.
I get really annoyed when companies will not deliver to BFPO addresses and don't tell you until you get to the checkout. Quite a lot of Amazon stuff is thus affected.

Re: Great Websites for Pressies
It does get on one's wick reading through all the delivery stuff. I typed: "deliver presents to bfpo addresses" into Google and got 62,000+ hits so that might be worth checking out.
The general sites I know are those where'd you'd have to have more money than sense for overpriced "trinket" presents (i.e. better off sending a gift voucher instead).
It's worth keeping an eye on so-called discount codes. Some websites list some generally, but if an option is shown on a particular site it's worth asking how you get one - might be a first time discount or free delivery whatever.
I stupidly placed a repeat order with a company and forgot I'd got a repeat-order discount code Doh! Some also give codes for friends/family if they order, so if recommending sites any knowledge on codes would of course be useful or worth looking out for.

You might find of interest two or three of the sale items from here: http://www.scottsofstow.co.uk/Sale/MCat ... 2483459713
I don't know if they deliver to BFPO. I have bought some things from them and returned something without too much difficulty.

Re: Great Websites for Pressies
I have a U.S. shipping address for all those items that Amazon et al can't ship directly to Bermuda, is there perhaps a similar service for Europe?
Things are becoming more global though, Bergdorf's, Saks, Neiman Marcus, etc. now all ship directly to my office, which is a really, really bad thing I did have to tell L.K. Bennett that post-Duchess of Cambridge they need to up their game on shipping destinations, I've had to go through all kinds of hoops to surprise my DIL with the LKB shoes she likes for her New Year's Day birthday present. I order pressies for my son from Thomas Pink and they are really efficient - sending directly from London in under a week.

Here is a more Eurocentric website for gift ideas:
http://style-files.com/
She is a Belgian style blogger I have been following for a few years.

Good idea for a thread.
These are good all round gift sites:
http://www.coxandcox.co.uk
http://www.giftatelier.com
http://www.primroseandplum.co.uk
http://www.colloco.co.uk/store/#!/~/cat ... rt=nameAsc
Good for personalised gifts:
http://www.biscuiteers.com
http://www.gettingpersonal.co.uk
Not a website but a good idea... I saw somewhere the idea of buying small boxes of chocolate truffles/sweets etc as a present and wrapping it in a nice scarf/hankie as an extra present, like this...

Thanks for those OMCO,
I'll check them out this afternoon.
I loke the scarf/hankie idea too.

OMCO posted about this: http://www.harveynichols.com/food-wine/ ... -salt.html
on another thread.
Which I think is an excellent stocking filler for a foodie friend.

It would make a great stocking filler Lou.
Browsing the website i've also spotted this which looks great. To be honest the contents are probably things which some people already have but i'm a sucker for aesthetics and packaging! And have you seen the name of the jar on the bottom right

It is not a gift if it does not look pretty OMCO, I agree, I too fall for packaging.
They still have the salt available in selfridges:

This site (Etsy) has come to my attention
http://www.etsy.com/browse/gifts
I haven't used it yet, but it is basically a giant on-line craft & arts fair, and like all such it has some junk - but I know that some good local arts and craft people sell through it and recommend it

There is also a UK only version:
http://folksy.com/
Not all Etsy sellers ship to the UK.
My friends buy a LOT from those websites, and have had some excellent experiences.
There is alos a website dedicated to the worst of etsy:
http://www.regretsy.com/
Which is a little tongue in cheek.

Well yes!
I think you can pick your settings on Etsy to get only the relavant sellers?
This is the young artist who led me to Etsy - free plug, not a mate, I've only met her once, but she is very likeable and the prints are good value IMO

Re: Great Websites for Pressies
Remember if you buy food presents they are VAT FREE. (UK)
£20 of every £100 you spend is VAT.
At the farm shop we try and persuade people to buy food and save money. Most folk don't realise that, otherwise £20 of every £100 you spend is VAT.

Good point Amazing but I am sending present outside of the UK.
As for VAT companies like Lakeland deduct VAT for goods sent to BFPO and other addresses (eg Jersey). The faff you have to go through to get VAT deducted from Amazon is unbelievable - so much so it is rarely worth the hassle. But then that's what they are hoping, they gain you loose - so I persue it.

Re: Great Websites for Pressies
This is an Irish site, with Irish sayings on tee shirts and my favourite, on very good quality bags. I got lots of these last year, especially, "This bag is for the messages" which made my friends laugh out loud. A year on the bags are still in great nick.
Now, I realise some of the slogans will go over the head of outsiders, but still worth a look
